Creating a luscious Red Mother Goddess altar

Our friend Michelle has been a devotee of the Red Mother for many years and she has kindly shared some of her very personal dedicational tips on how she worships her beloved Goddess!

So let’s take a peek at how a devotee anchors and honours this goddess of her heart and blood in the modern world. Michelle tends to her altar every day and she explained that for her it’s an essential part of the worship to this love Goddess of joy and beauty.

Here’s what she suggests are the firm favourites of this luscious love Goddess:

Red Mother Goddess altarFragrance - essential oils of neroli & rose geranium sprayed on the altar or in an oil burner. Never ever use fragrances that are synthetic.

Fresh flowers - particularly red hibiscus & red rose.
Never let the flowers die on the altar- they must look great and full of life.

Jewels - rubies, emeralds & pearls are appropriate. Michelle ‘shares’ her jewellery with her patron Goddess, so she ‘charges’ up her own personal jewellery on the Red Mothers altar and wears it with pride (and magickal potency) when out and about living her day to day life.

Goddess imagery – find a sculpture or image of a love Goddess from any culture; choose what draws you to it. Try not to get hung up about the debate of accepting a love Goddess from a different culture other than your own. God’s are eternal and more than capable of crossing cultures and our own lifetimes. Go with your ‘intuition’ and this will yield far better results.

Altar décor - fuschia, ruby, red and raspberry tones are great colours for candles, altar cloths, fairy lights and so forth. You can see how Michelle’s Red Mother altar looks from the photo above.

Michelle's Red Mother CakeA la mode – it’s recommended we offer only the best most opulent foods with this love Goddess. This is clearly evident in the spectacular photo of Michelle holding her food offering to the Red Mother! Michelle made up her own recipe for this delectable cake which she has aptly named ‘Scarlet Valentino’ –this was inspired for the Red Mother and remains her dedication cake. I hope my patron Goddess isn’t reading this…..

Michelle is currently writing a book about the Red Mother and when she launches it we will let you know. It’s going to be grand and sexy!

We hear that it might even include the Scarlet Valentino cake recipe!
